Yesterday the gas prices doubled over night. The price was 65 Naira/Litre (which is about $0.41CAD) until the 1st of January when the government decided to lift the fuel subsidy as a very special new year's gift to the people of Nigeria. On the 2nd of January it was 140 Naira/Lirtre ($0.88CAD). um.
Meanwhile the biggest oil spill in 30-something years is killing fish and threatening the lives of locals in the Niger Delta.
Not to mention 4 states are in a state of emergency. . .
