an introduction

Last night, in my dream, I met a boy for the first time.
His smile was sparkling light
I didn't want to leave him
I didn't know what I'd done so right to deserve such a pure, selfless love. . .

But a train came
To take me away to another world
The schedule trapped me
I left his brown eyes behind.

He looked like half of you.
And half of me.

Yellow Dragon

I awoke with a start.  Something humming.  Getting closer.
I looked around, realizing I had no idea where I was.  I was in the bottom bed of a bunk bed.  It had 3 levels and was of minimum quality.  I seemed to be in a plain girls dormitory.  There were no unnecessary frills here.  No decorations on the walls, no colours to note, no closets or clothes that I could see.
It was night but dim light came through the small windows.  They were glassless and screenless, there was no door covering the doorway to the outside.
The humming was much louder now.  I went closer to the door to see where it was coming from.
We were elevated.  We seemed to be on the first story of a free standing building but we were in the middle of a crowded dwelling area.  Slum like in structure.  Thousands of people must've lived down there.
Suddenly I was pelted with small circular red puck-shaped devices.  I had never seen them before and yet I sensed that they were dangerous.  I tried to throw them all out of the room, worried that they may detonate at anytime but the onslaught was too much.  Hundreds filled the room, the dwellings below.
I looked up to the sky.  There, slithering above me was the most bizarre contraption.  A metal yellow flying machine that moved like a dragon through the sky.  There were more conventional aircrafts spraying thousands of red devices out to the ground below.

The next day I saw that the red devices had been gathered into a box and put beside my bed.  I was told by one of the girls that they couldn't be touched or thrown away in case of detonation.  Our movements were being monitored, it seemed.  The girl was a rebel, maybe a revolutionary.  I didn't know her well, but she was my ally, somehow.  She slept in the top bunk.
She lifted up her shirt to reveal her lower back which had holes for a plug.  She said that she had hooked up a device so that when she plugged it into her back, the king would be dead.
I didn't doubt her logic, I knew she was being truthful in the matter.  However, I also knew, because of my encounters with the king, that he was not really our enemy.  The real enemy was yet to be seen, but somehow I knew that it would be my duty to stop this war.

We can be saved

If we build a bridge.
Not a tower or a bomb or a dam or a nuclear power plant.
If we build a bridge.
Not a riot or a genocide or a war or a conquest.
If we build a bridge.
Not a clear cutting or a mass poisoning or an extracting or a mining.
If we build a bridge.
Not a mass extinction.

A bridge that anyone can cross.  A bridge that is built by all of us.  7 billion+ strong.  It is built on a foundation of love with beams made of hope and courage and bolted together by trust, ingenuity, imagination and integrity.  A bridge that finally sees the preciousness of unique and each person's individuality as equal.  A bridge where diversity adds beauty and colour to the design.  A bridge that leads us from the banks of the status quo, over impossible to a new land we haven't yet seen.

It's impossible.
If we don't work together.
It's impossible.
If we wait too long to realize the potential that is innate in each of us.
It's impossible.
If we're not willing to entertain the power of love to transform and heal.
It's impossible.
If we don't start with ourselves and start building our relationships with others.  Old and young.  Male and Female.  Conservative and Liberal.  Capitalists/Free-market advocates and Socialists/Communists.  White and Black and Red and Yellow.  Rural and Urban.  Christian and Muslim and Hindu and Buddhist and Jain and Sikh and etc.  We're all in this together.

This is personal.  This is global.  This is it.  Now or never.  Let's make it worth living for.

nice dream

Last night I dreamt of you.  You did not appear as your true like-ness but I knew it was you nonetheless.  Our interaction was the same, our spirits met in the same manner, at the same place.
We were on a beach and you were leading me to your family's cottage.  We passed  box-like training centres painted in primary red and blue.  We moved on to small identical cottages with identical gardens extending from the front doorway and creating identical welcoming paths.  We continued on through the sand towards your home.  The weather was perfect, not too hot or cold and aside from the buildings and sand, there was not much of note.  Just you and I walking together.
Even though it was a dream, the places in our relationship that are still unknown, are still curiosities and have never been explored were still better left alone.  Everything was perfect.
I awoke longing for the sound of rain falling on rooftops. . .

夢見れば. . .

She was surrounded by her friends and acquaintances when suddenly, her body began to lift from the ground. She felt her inner most being pulled uncontrollably, though not entirely against her will, upwards.  Not towards the sky or space, as one might expect, rather towards the light that had penetrated her body and was now shining from her eyes. Resistance to this pull was increasingly futile and she began to submit to the phenomenon.  Every event, relationship, experience, thought, idea, accident, lesson, passing comment was coming back to her and being relived as if it was the present, but with an obvious coherence.  In review, everything clearly followed a distinct and logical pattern, a beautifully diverse, calculated and interconnected chaos. She felt the light penetrating her heart and she was catapulted into a vast ocean of pure love for every being simultaneously losing complete consciousness of those gathering around her.
The next moment, she was forcefully pulled back down to the ground by a hand on her leg. The youngest of the group, whose eyes had previously been sparkling sapphires had turned a lifeless black. All the light previously reflecting from them had vanished. "You'll never reach anyone from way up there." The others nodded in agreement.
